ECTO-1H
The vehicle used for the Ecto-1H is a 2009 Chevrolet HHR LT, built by the General Motors company. The luxury touring combination is the top of the line luxury variety. Jeff Himes found the vehicle shortly after he joined the company. Because of his mechanical skills, he was able to repair the vehicle, which he acquired for $7,800.
After upgrades were completed, the vehicle has quite a unique character. It has become a well-recognized symbol for the Circle City Ghostbusters franchise. The vehicle has enough room in it to store Proton Packs for four crew, along with Ecto Goggles, P.K.E. Meters, and a slew of Traps.
“Everybody can relax. I found the car!”

’84/’89 PROTON PACKS
The backbone of the ghost-busting-business, the proton pack (designed by Dr. Egon Spengler) is a man-portable particle accelerator system that creates a charged particle beam—composed of protons—that is fired by the particle thrower (also referred to as the “neutrona wand”). Often described as a “positron collider,” it functions by colliding high-energy positrons to generate its proton beam. The beam allows a Ghostbuster to contain and hold “negatively charged ectoplasmic entities.” This containment ability allows the wielder to position a ghost above a muon trap for capture.
“A proton pack is not a toy.”
Dr. Egon Spengler

’84/’89 MUON TRAPS
The Muon Trap, or Ghost Trap, is a sealed container that allows a Ghostbuster to capture and transport a ghost to an Ecto-Containment Unit (ECU) for safe storage. Once a trap has captured a ghost, it cannot be re-opened without releasing its captured contents. For this reason, Ghostbusters must carry several traps with them on a job. After the job is complete, full trap cartridges empty into the ECU where the spectral entity is pumped into the storage grid, after which the trap is ready for reuse.
“I’m opening the trap now; don’t look directly at the trap!”
Dr. Raymond Stantz
“I looked at the trap, Ray!”
